Who Am I?
My name is James. I live in a small town in England, which is part of the United Kingdom. I'm in my 50s and work in IT.
Perhaps one day I'll write more about who I am, but that will do for now.
Why I Started This Blog
For a long time I have felt like I need to write about the things that interest me and share it with the world. I think everyone should be using the internet to express themselves in some way. I do mean everyone because I believe if you're not taking part then you're just a passenger. The internet, and all the things that come with it, is shaped by those who get involved.
Isn't OK if people choose to not get involved on the internet?
The thing is, we don't have that choice. Not really. Not without a lot of very deliberate effort. So many aspects of our lives are entwined with the internet that it's almost impossible not to be involved.
So rather than be a passenger, a passive consumer, a hapless source of data to be mined, I'm going to take responsibility for adding my voice to the conversation.
What I'll Write About
I don't have some big idea about what I'll write. That's sort of the point. I'll write whatever seems best at the time.
That said, it's unreasonable to expect visitors to stay with no idea of what to expect.
So here's a list of topics I'm most likely to write about.
Software engineering
This is my profession and what I have done for over 3 decades. I've seen a crazy amount of change over those years and it's perhaps the area I have the most
